IV Ketamine is an FDA-approved anesthetic medication that can also be used as an off-label, non-FDA-approved treatment for treatment-resistant depression and other mental health conditions. IV Ketamine is administered intravenously as an infusion and can show symptom relief as soon as the first treatment. We generally recommend an initial course of 3-6 infusions with the possibility of additional treatments, depending on the response to the medication. Because IV Ketamine is being used off-label for treatment-resistant depression, it is not covered by insurance.
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
Ketamine can not only have a strong antidepressant effect, but is also an excellent tool in conjunction with psychotherapy. We highly encourage our patients who are receiving ketamine treatments to work with a trusted therapist to reach the best results throughout their treatment. If you have an interest in integrating psychotherapy with IV Ketamine, please ask us about this option.

How Do I Get Started?
A provider from Michigan Advanced Psychiatry will sit down with you to discuss what you have been facing. We will review the other methods of treatment that you have tried, then determine if IV Ketamine or Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is a good option for you.
